My Favorite Algorand NFTs
As a blockchain and web3 enthusiast, I’m always excited to participate in emerging ecosystems. The Algorand blockchain is one of those ecosystems, and since joining the community in early 2020 I’ve acquired a few NFTs!
Here are some of my favorite Algorand NFTs.
Octorand
NFD / Non-Fungible Domains
Crazy Goose Flock
Shep NFTs (no relation)
And an honorable mention for an NFT collection I’m trickling out featuring work generated by Midjourney that I then retouch and improve in Photoshop – Man In Black
Below is a gallery showcasing some of these NFTs. After the gallery, we can jump into the list in more detail.
Octorand
Award-winning dApp and NFT collection on Algorand with composable NFTs, custom art, seasonal games, and a great community. The first transformable NFTs on Algorand, and a leading team in the space pushing out fun & useful new features that benefit holders as well as the Algorand community as a whole.
Why I like it: A true innovator in the NFT space (beyond just Algorand), and an ever-expanding future set of opportunities as the project devs continue to launch new features. Plus the art is customizable. Owning an Octorand NFT grants access to an useful set of composable functions and community benefits.
NFD / Non-Fungible Domains
Non-Fungible Domains (NFDs) — Algorand's name service for buying, selling and managing .algo domains. NFD basically amounts to a supercharged ENS (Ethereum Name Service), and lets Algorand users use shorthand addresses for wallet names. So instead of a wallet address that looks like: XBONT08DOH74022NTHIO7638G, you can send a transaction to shep.algo.
Why I like it: Amazing convenience being able to use a short domain name instead of a long wallet address. Long list of potential future features makes this an exciting project to keep up with.
Crazy Goose Flock
CGF is a collection of 4,444 Crazy Goose NFTs minted on the Algorand Blockchain living at THE POND. Owning a CGF grants you access to THE POND and member-only benefits such as governance on the future of the CGF, merch purchases, and giveaways/raffles. Additionally, every sold CGF prevents 1kg of plastic from entering the oceans and the project has so far offset over 6,000 kg of plastic via contributions to PlasticBank.
Why I like it: I reaaaally like the art, and I think I have one of the coolest geese in the whole flock! Plus they’ve done a great job of expanding the utility for holders since their launch.
Shep NFTs (no relation)
744 Shep NFTs minted on Algorand and distributed for free. This is a community project with a multi-chain focus. Originally this was a free mint project that was intended to bring users from other chains such as Ethereum, Solana, and Hedera onto Algorand.
Why I like it: Obvious reasons. There’s something magical about having an NFT with my name on the character’s hat!
